Case Studies

AIRWOLF

Airwolf Aviation Corporation (an agricultural organization in the Philippines) switched to AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 with the help of Alpha Pioneer. Airwolf switched from a competitor oil to ASTO 560 because of its high thermal stability which helped reduce coking in their engines and kept them clean for a long period of time.

Factor 1: Coking Propensity

Coke buildup is another critical problem that leads to engine performance inefficiencies. In order to reduce coking, an HTS oil must be able to withstand engine operating temperatures. Through the hot liquid simulator (HLPS) test, ASTO 560 has proven that it outperforms current standard oils in the market and form the least coke deposits.

Your choice of turbine engine oil must be able to reduce elastomer seal degradation. Excessive degradation or ‘swelling’ can cause oil leakage, which will entail higher maintenance costs for your fleet. With the right mix of anti-oxidants, ASTO 560 has proven to be elastomer-friendly through a standardized elastomer compatibility test over a 24- and 120-hour period.

ASTO 560 shows optimum swelling in elastomer seals compared to a known competitor’s HTS oil.

AeroShell Turbine Oil 308

3-centistoke APU Oil
MIL-PRF-7808L Grade 3

Reliability for Auxiliary Power Units (APUs)

  • A 3 mm2/s synthetic ester oil incorporating additives to offer better resistance against oxidation and corrosion, and to minimise wear
  • Reliable APU starting, especially in cold-soak conditions
  • Lower maintenance cost from reduced component wear during APU startup
  • Helps maximise ETOPS times.
  • AeroShell Turbine Oil 308 was developed specifically for use in particular models of aircraft turbo-prop and turbo-jet engines for which a MIL-PRF-7808 oil is required.
AeroShell Turbine Oil 308 contains a synthetic ester oil and should not be used in contact with incompatible seal materials and it also affects some paints and plastics.
